How to Prepare Your Products for a Professional Photoshoot
Whether it’s your first product shoot or your tenth, a little preparation goes a long way. At Sunlit Social, we want your products to shine as brightly as your brand. Here’s how to get the most out of your shoot.
1. Clean & Polish Every Item
Make sure all products are clean, dust-free, and free of fingerprints or smudges. Small imperfections show up in high-resolution photography. Make sure labels aren’t marked or have imperfections (if they do please note there may be additional costs for retouching). Pack them carefully to avoid damage in transit.
2. Send Extras
Always send a few spares, especially if your product is small, fragile, or has packaging that could get scratched. This gives us flexibility to choose the best angles and allows for backup options. If you require so product texture shots, please be sure to send extra product.
3. Label Everything Clearly
Include a list of what’s been sent and label individual products or specific groupings you may like. This is especially helpful for larger collections or when bundling items together.
4. Share Your Vision
Got a Pinterest board? A moodboard? A vibe you love? We want to see it. Providing references helps us align with your brand’s aesthetic and marketing goals. We will then utilise this in our own mood board and shot list creation.
5. Timing Matters
If your products are seasonal or launching soon, let us know your deadlines so we can prioritise and schedule accordingly. Ensure products arrive no less than 5 business days prior to your shoot so we can ensure we have time for pre-production prep of your products!
